NICHICON Develops LGM Series of Snap-In Terminal-Type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, the Industry’s Smallest

Nichicon Corporation announces the development of the LGM Series of snap-in terminal type aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The potential applications include inverters for power electronics and switching power supplies. These ultra-compact capacitors are guaranteed to operate at 105°C.

Mass production will begin in April 2016.

The LGM product line will be on display at CEATEC JAPAN 2015 from October 7 to 10 (Wed.-Sat.) at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan

Overview, Background of Development
Due to the increasing needs for power and resource efficiency in industrial machinery, equipment is becoming increasingly smaller. The components also need to be smaller. NICHICON has responded with the release of the LGL Series, the industry’s smallest class of snap-in terminal type aluminum electrolytic capacitors until now. The LGM Series is now the industry’s smallest.

The LGM Series utilizes a newly developed high-capacity electrode foil, in addition to a highly durable electrolyte and electrolytic paper, all of which help combine to achieve the smallest size in the industry. Compared to the current LGL Series, the LGM Series is up to 14% smaller (by volume), making it ideal for space-efficient circuit design.
