[Description]

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM)has developed five products of analog front end (AFE) and new concept A/Dconverter “Zero Latency Delta Sigma ADC” that have both SAR’s high accuracy andDelta Sigma’s high linearity. Samples are available now. They are scheduled tobe sequentially launched in the August 2016.

 

All lineups are pin compatible andavailable in a small 4 mm x 4 mm QFN package. It is easy to find the mostsuitable device for your system from AKM’s 18/16/14-bit A/D converter andAnalog front end lineups. They are suitable for miniature motors andmeasurement equipment. 

 

 AK9232/AK9233/AK9234| 2ch 18/16/14 bit 1.1MHz ZDS A/D Converter

ZDS A/D converter AK9232/33/34 integrates2-channel circuits in a small 4mm x 4mm package enabling simultaneous samplingand saving board space.

The AK9232 realizes 18-bit resolution whilesupporting the sampling rate up to 1.1MHz. In addition, it has polarcoordinates output function (angle calculation algorithm); a small highaccuracy encoder can easily be designed.

 

Pin compatible lineups, the AK9233 (16-bit)and the AK9243 (14-bit) are also available.

 AK9242/AK9243| Analog front end with 2ch 16/14 bit 1.1MHz ZDS A/Dconverter

The AK9242/AK9243 is an analog front endthat is optimized for high resolution encoders.

 

ZDS A/D converter AK9242/43 integrates2-channel simultaneous sampling A/D converter, a programmable gain amplifier(PGA) and a transimpedance amplifier for current input in a small 4mm x 4mm QFNpackage. Current / Voltage input for the AK9242/43 can be selected. Inaddition, it has polar coordinates output function (angle calculationalgorithm).

 

The AK9242 realizes 16-bit resolution whilesupporting the sampling rate up to 1.1MHz. A small high accuracy encoder caneasily be designed with the AK9242. A pin compatible lineup, the AK9243(14-bit) is also available.

 

Moreover, an analog front end with SAR A/Dconverter in a small 3mm x 3mm QFN package, the AK9240 (12-bit) is alsoavailable.

A ZDS A/D converter realizes ultrafastresponse of SAR while maintaining high accuracy conversion like a delta-sigmaconverter, based on AKM’s accumulated experience and know-how in analog-digitalLSI technology. It contributes to improving the speed and the accuracy ofnegative feedback circuits. It has long acquisition time comparing with an SARA/D converter, reducing input buffer load of the IC. Small and high accuratemotor systems can be designed with a ZDS A/D converter.
