TAIYO YUDEN Commercializes the World’s First 0.022μF 008004 Size (0.25x0.125mm) Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor

Accelerating Our Proposal for Downsizing from the EIA01005 Size with 2.2 Times the Capacitance of Our Conventional Product
TOKYO, June 24, 2015 - TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD. announced today the addition of 
AMK021BJ223MK, the world's first 008004 size (0.25 x 0.125 x 0.125 mm) multilayer ceramic 
capacitor to achieve a capacitance of 0.022μF.

This product is used in decoupling applications for power supply lines to ICs in devices required 
to be small and thin such as smartphones and wearable devices.

TAIYO YUDEN's various technologies in materials, sheet thin-films, printing, and multilayer 
capabilities have become more sophisticated to achieve a capacitance of 0.022μF, which is 2.2 times that of the company’s conventional product. The company is committed to contributing to the realization of smaller, thinner devices through downsizing of the EIA01005 size multilayer ceramic capacitors to the 008004 size.

TAIYO YUDEN will start production of this multilayer ceramic capacitor from June 2015 at the 
company’s Tamamura Plant in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, at a production rate of 30 million units per month for the 008004 size multilayer ceramic capacitors in total. The sample price is 10 yen per unit.

Technology Background
Smartphones and wearable devices that come in various styles, including watch-type, glass-type, and wristband-type, are required to include many different features such as communications functions, sensors, and a battery, in their small, thin body. This has resulted in growing demand for additional size and thickness reduction for electronic parts used in these devices.


TAIYO YUDEN has now begun commercialization of AMK021BJ223MK with a capacity of 
0.022μF, which is 2.2 times larger than that of its conventional product at 0.01μF, in the world's smallest 008004 size multilayer ceramic capacitor. The company is committed to contributing to the realization of smaller, thinner devices through downsizing of the EIA01005 size multilayer ceramic capacitors to the 008004 size.

We will continue to actively promote product development for smaller, thinner, higher value, and 
high-Q multilayer ceramic capacitors to address the ever-growing demand of the market.
