Panasonic to Launch the industry’s smallest and lowest operating power level high-capacity power relays, HE-S Relay

The energy-saving power relays will belaunched this June. The relays are small dimensions of 30 x 36 x 40 mm and anoperating power of 1.88 W. It will contribute to the downsizing and energysavings of high-current or inverter-based equipment.
Osaka, Japan - Panasonic Corporationannounced today it introduces the industry's smallest* power relays"HE-SRelay", which have realized one of the industry's lowest operating powerlevels*. HE-S Relays can safely cut off abnormal currents that may occur whenpower conditioners for photovoltaic power generation or power storage system,industrial equipment such as elevators, and stationary EV chargers are inoperation. They will be available on the market starting in June 2015.

Downsizing, weight reduction, and energysavings are demanded of power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation,storage battery and various industrial equipment systems. The power relays areused for cutting off inverter current safely in case of a failure in theseequipment systems and there are growing needs for downsizing and reducedoperating power. Panasonic has developed the industry's smallest* HE-S Relaysthat employ the mirror contact structure, thus achieving one of the industry'slowest operating power levels*. HE-S Relays will contribute to the downsizingand energy savings of equipment and systems that require high-capacity control,such as power conditioners for photovoltaic power generation or power storagesystem, elevators, uninterruptible power supply systems(UPSs), and varioustypes of industrial equipment.

3. The adoption of the mirror contactstructure (conforming to EN 60947-4-1) facilitates the design of safetycircuits.
