ams OSRAM presents the third generation of the XLS signal lamp
2024-03-05 | Return>A uniform platform with more than five different light sources reduces complexity and overall costs for vehicle manufacturers.
>The third generation brings greater cost efficiency and improved performance.
Premstätten, Austria and Munich, Germany (5 March 2024) – ams OSRAM, a leading global provider of optical sensors and emitters, has launched the third generation of its innovative XLS product family. The company is taking a significant step forward with this new generation, particularly in terms of cost efficiency: The new architecture delivers excellent light output at much lower cost compared to the previous generation. At the same time, the ECE-compliant platform for LED signal lamps has standardized interfaces to the luminaire.
XLS (eXchangable LED Signal lamp) is an ECE-compliant platform with more than five different light sources, covering all the important signal applications in vehicles. This reduces complexity and overall costs for car manufacturers and leads to faster development processes thanks to adapted standards. Even workshop mechanics and drivers can easily replace the lamps in the event of a fault, resulting in lower repair costs and greater road safety. XLS is therefore a pioneer for broad LED penetration in high-volume vehicle segments.
“The standardized XLS light sources from ams OSRAM are creating new opportunities in vehicle lighting. Combining performance, cost efficiency and sustainability, the XLS range is the ideal choice for a wide range of automotive lighting applications. The third generation of the XLS signal lamp is setting new standards in terms of efficiency and economy,” said Ralf Hying, Head of XLS.
A new standard in flexibility
In its third generation the XLS portfolio has been expanded to include cost-effective products for use in modern vehicle architectures. The right XLS Gen3 light source with the right light color and the right brightness is available for every signal light application. The light sources meet all the required ECE standards. In total, the family offers three different lighting solutions in yellow and white. A red version is planned for 2024. This color flexibility enables vehicle manufacturers to equip all signal applications with LED signal light sources from the XLS family.
