New ultra-sensitive 3D magnetic sensors are now available, with ultra-low power consumption

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has launched the AK09940A, a 3-axis magnetic sensor with the world's best-in-class* ultra-low noise and ultra-low power consumption performance that utilizes a TMR magnetic sensor element.

It is upwardly compatible with the conventional product, "AK09940", designed by adding a low power consumption mode, a high-speed sampling mode, and an external trigger mode, making it suitable for various applications.

High sensitivity and ultra-low noise performance can be leveraged to improve motion tracking accuracy for AR/VR or wearable devices.

Its ability to precisely measure minute magnetic field fluctuations, magnetic field leakage, and magnetic field distortion with three axes makes it ideal for applications such as fault detection and position detection in unspecified weak magnetic fields.

Furthermore, its ultra-low power consumption makes it a perfect match for 3-axis magnetic measurement in wearable devices and IoT devices that use small-capacity batteries.

Mass-produced products are scheduled to be available in the second quarter of 2023.

Low noise of 120 nTrms and ultra-low current consumption of 16 μA@100Hz make it ideal for devices that use small-capacity batteries.
