Eaton launches new Open Compute Project innovations to meet the unique demands of data centers

RALEIGH, N.C. … Intelligent power management company Eaton today announced the North American launch of its Open Compute Project (OCP) Open Rack v3 (ORV3) -compatible solutions. This new technology is purposefully designed and preconfigured to allow for the efficient, scalable delivery of critical power for data center customers seeking to deploy ORV3 racks. These solutions – comprised of racks, busbars, power cords and power shelves built to the latest OCP standards – will be on display in booth B34 at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose on October 18, 2022.

“The OCP was created to encourage collaboration and to provide innovative technology solutions for unique data center technology challenges,” said Joe Skorjanec, product marketing manager, Eaton. “It is in this spirit of collaboration that we designed our new ORV3 products, offering preconfigured solutions that allow customers to deploy OCP ORV3 racks for testing or production without making a costly engineering commitment.”

Eaton’s ORV3-compatible solutions can be used off-the-shelf or as reference designs for fully customized solutions to meet the needs of a range of customer IT environments. Using the latest Open Rack specifications for rack and shelf size, thermal testing and peak load performance as inspiration, the new product lineup provides high density, efficiency and convenience for data center and IT managers.

Additional capabilities of the OCP solutions include:

· Up to 30kW per rack
· Up to 50% energy savings
· Convenient blind-mate power connections
· Support for 21-inch ORV3-compatible equipment and 19-inch EIA-compatible equipment in the same rack
