New Product: SMI pressure sensor for low pressure sensing range
2020-05-12 | 返回SMI pressure sensors from TE Connectivity offer some of the lowest pressure sensing ranges available. SMI series of low pressure sensors meet the increased demand for low-pressure sensing from the industrial and medical markets
Berwyn, Pennsylvania – May 12, 2020 – There is an increasing demand for lower pressure sensing capabilities in the industrial and medical markets. From HVAC and gas flow, to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), ventilation, and patient monitoring applications, the ability to detect small pressure changes is critical. This demand requires pressure sensors to be highly accurate and provide long-term stability in robust, compact packages. The Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based SMI pressure sensors from TE Connectivity (TE) meet these needs and offer some of the lowest pressure sensing ranges available.
SMI pressure sensors from TE include the ultra-low (SM9000), low pressure (SM7000/6000/5000) and medium pressure (SM4000/1000) series. These sensors enable gauge and differential pressure sensing as low as 125 Pa (0.5 in H2O), by using piezoresistive technology with signal processing to provide a compensated output. With the ability to detect even the smallest pressure changes with high levels of accuracy (up to 1% FS total error band), these sensors provide long-term stability.
Flexible output options allow users to choose between a digital or digital and analog output signal according to the application requirements. The option of dual output signal offers redundancy for system safety. The amplified analog output provides the fastest response time. The digital I2C interface with 16-bit resolution resolves signals as small as 0.0038 Pa and limits the need for additional circuitry from the customer, allowing multiple devices to connect to the same BUS.
Optimized for miniature devices, the SMI pressure sensors are packaged in a compact housing. The sensors are offered in a standard JEDEC SOIC-16 package with vertical or horizontal porting or a unibody molded SOIC-10 with a single vertical port (only available for SM4000/1000). The small footprint and insensitivity to the mounting orientation allow ease of system integration. Lightweight designs enable medical devices to become portable and large industrial equipment can be made smaller and smarter.
“We are excited to add the SMI pressure sensors to TE Connectivity’s comprehensive pressure portfolio and extend it to ultra-low pressure ranges,” said Nick DePhillips, product manager of the SM-series from TE. “Now, we offer a highly accurate and easy-to-integrate solution for pressure and flow sensing for applications such as medical ventilation devices, as well as filter monitoring and VAV in HVACR systems.”
