Latest outdoor lighting receptacle from TE Connectivity simplifies move to two-node architecture, lowering costs for adding sensor functionality

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has introduced the next generation of its LUMAWISE product portfolio, the LUMAWISE Endurance S2 receptacle. An addition to the already extensive product line, the new S2 receptacle provides greater flexibility and connectivity in luminaire design and street lighting architecture.

“Developed specifically for LED light sources, drivers and outdoor luminaires, the LUMAWISE Endurance S - S2 receptacle reduces the complexity of street lighting architecture by removing discrete wire connecting components from the bill of material. This, in turn, reduces labor costs associated with manufacturing the luminaire,” says Alexander Hunt III, global product manager, Lighting at TE Connectivity. “The S2 offers the same benefits of the original Endurance S introduced for ZHAGA Book 18 applications with additional design enhancements around wire insertion, the sealing gasket and orienting lock washer.”

Standardized interface, sensor-ready, simple installation

The LUMAWISE Endurance S connector system offers cost-effective design flexibility with an industry-standard mating interface. Receptacles like the S2 receptacle accept bases in either 40 mm or 80 mm diameter. Domes act as an accessory to the base to create a sealed enclosure to protect the electronics embedded inside from surrounding harsh environments. The compact, UV-resistant, IP66-seal-rated design can be mounted upward, downward or sideways on an outdoor lighting fixture, offering flexibility to the luminaire designer.

The modules allow for single-handed mounting without the need for special tools — providing quick and easy installation that empowers installers to be more efficient and productive. Modules can be installed or exchanged and operational in only a few seconds without having to electrically isolate the lighting pole.

Additional features:

> A ZHAGA-compliant, sensor-ready interface with sealing cap
> Ability to terminate two wires for each signal contact for daisy chain wiring
> Two times the wire retention of original Book 18 receptacle
> IP65 and IP66 rating for harsh outdoor environments and applications
