Abracon Announces External MIMO Antennas for the IoT
2019-10-18 | ReturnAustin, Texas – Abracon, LLC (Abracon), The Heartbeat of the IoT®, a leading global manufacturer of frequency control, timing,synchronization, RF, connectivity and power solutions, announces the availability of two external antenna products designed to deliver the benefits of emerging multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) applications.
The AEACBK110053-MLWG and AEACBK050048-MW2 devices address a combination of protocols that require high data-rate connectivity and are IP67-rated for exterior, rugged or industrial operation.
MIMO RF techniques channelize the RF space, boosting data rate and decreasing interference. Using MIMO techniques addresses challenges associated with higher broadband requirements and denser radio deployments. Such techniques have enabled major advances in protocols such as cellular LTE and WiFi.
“There is no question that MIMO will become necessary as broadband requirements increase while RF deployments become denser,” said Juan Conchas, Abracon’s director of marketing. “Abracon’s new antenna solutions combine rugged durability with support of MIMO in a variety of bands, which enables high data-rate connectivity, simplified designs and improved end-system functionality in outdoor environments.”

The IP67-rated AEACBK110053-MLWG external dome antenna is suitable for cellular 4G/LTE/3G/2G/GSM, navigational GNSS/GPS/GLONASS, and dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) WiFi applications. Featuring an internal LNA with 28dB of gain, this antenna delivers a boosted GPS/GLONASS signal, providing enhanced reception using right-hand-circular polarization (RHCP).
The antenna provides ideal connectivity for gateways and routers, telematics, M2M, IoT and Industrial IoT (IIoT), geolocation and tracking, transportation and agriculture, and smart city equipment designs.
