Abracon Releases Power-Optimized AK5 and AK7 ClearClock™ Oscillators with Sub-80fs Jitter
2019-10-07 | ReturnAustin, Texas – Abracon, LLC (Abracon), The Heartbeat of the IoT®, a leading global manufacturer of frequency control, timing, synchronization, RF, connectivity and power solutions, announces availability of the AK5 and AK7 ClearClock™ series of high-performance, power-optimized oscillators available in 5 x 7 mm and 3.2 x 5 mm package sizes, respectively.
Delivering industry-leading jitter performance of 75fs RMS, these XOs are ideal for high data rate applications, such as 10G/40G/100G Ethernet, Fibre channel, HD-SDI/3G HD-SDI broadcast video, optical transport, telecommunications, base stations (BTS), and PCI Express up to Gen 6 and beyond. Supporting frequencies up to 212.5MHz and 200MHz, respectively, the AK7 and AK5 technology alleviates the tradeoff between power consumption and high data rate connectivity.
“These oscillators represent the latest extension of the ClearClock™ product line supporting the next generation of data rates in networking and communications,” said Juan Conchas, director of marketing with Abracon. “The AK5 and AK7 series are optimized for low power consumption while achieving industry-leading low jitter performance.”
The AK5 and AK7 devices’ simplified architecture avoids phase locked loop (PLL) based multiplication, minimizing overall power consumption far below other high-performance XO alternatives. Typically consuming 30mW of power at the lowest operating voltage of 1.8V, the AK5 and AK7 support HCSL, LVDS and LVPECL output logic types.
Enabled by the simplified design, the oscillator delivers clean and spurious-free phase noise performance. Standard options support +/-25ppm temperature stability over a -40°C to 85°C ambient temperature range as well as OE functionality with active high or active low combinations.
Standard frequencies of 100, 122.88, 125, 148.5, 156.25 and 200MHz are available through Abracon’s broad distribution channel.
