AVX Releases Unique Three-Piece STRIPT™ Contact System for Linear LED & Coplanar PCB Connections

2018-07-11 | Return
Initially developed for off-road vehicle lighting, thenew 70-9159 STRIPT linking BTB contact system delivers a size-to-performanceratio & current handling capabilities unmatched by existing BTB & WTBsolutions, & at a lower cost than traditional insulated connectors.

This latest addition to AVX’s portfolio of UL-certifiedSTRIPT solutions also delivers ultra-high-reliability performance in a lowerprofile and at a lower cost than traditional insulated connectors. No other BTBsolution currently available on the market offers the same size-to-performanceratio or high current handling capabilities as the new 70-9159 STRIPT BTBlinking contact system, and dual wire-to-board (WTB) connections would add bothcost and labor, and would also struggle to meet the 20A rating.

“Although we developed the new 70-9159 STRIPT linkingcontact system in response to a customer request for a robust, high-current,coplanar, board-to-board connector for off-road vehicle lighting, the system’shigh current capabilities, extreme environmental resistance, and ultra-highreliability can also provide improved performance, space savings, and costreductions in other challenging coplanar, board-to-board applications,” saidTom Anderson, product manager at AVX.

The two single-position SMT C-clip phosphor bronzecontacts and high-strength copper alloy linking bridge contact that comprisethe 70-9159 STRIPT BTB linking contact system are lead-free and plated withmatte-tin-over-nickel, and are rated for 300V, 20A, operating temperaturesextending from -40°C to +125°C, and five durability cycles.
