AKM releases A/D converters with noise suppression function for high speed and high accuracy industrial motor systems
2017-09-22 | ReturnProduct Name
AK9255NK/AK9255ANK
AK9256NK/AK9256ANK
Product Categories: Industrial LSI > Industrial AFE & ADC
Title
16-bit/14-bit 0.5~1.1MSPS 2ch Industrial ZDS-NS A/D Converter
Applications
Motor Control Current Meters, Encoders, Other Small Meters
Description
Recently, the increasing popularity of robotic applications has driven demands to enhance the responding speed of the system and to reduce the noise. Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, (AKM), has now released the AK925X series, new concept Zero Latency Delta-Sigma, (ZDS), A/D converters with noise suppression function.
This series is a 16-bit/14-bit 2ch ADC, performs oversampling A/D conversion, and outputs a signal in a range of 0.5 to 1.1 MSPS. The noise suppression function minimizes the high frequency noise included in the analog input signal. The noise suppression amount can be changed flexibly. In addition, a different output interface options, the AK9255ANK and the AK9256ANK, are also available.
Samples are available now for the AK9255NK and the AK9255ANK, and will be available in January 2018 for the AK9256NK and the AK9256ANK.
Features
●Noise Suppression Function
An SAR ADC realizes real time response but it is not able to suppress noises. In the opposite way, anΔΣ ADC can suppress noises but delays in response.
The AK925X series suppresses high frequency noise included in analog input signals by oversampling A/D conversion as the same as a ΔΣ ADC while realizing real time responses.
●Variable Noise Suppression Amount
The noise suppression amount of the AK925X series can be selected in four levels.
The figures bellow show gain frequency characteristics of internal digital filters [*].
The noise suppression strength is enhanced by increasing the number of oversampling.
[*] In case of when the clock frequency is 20MHz. Characteristics are depending on the clock frequency.
●Small Package
The AK925X series is a 2ch A/D converter housed in an ultra-small 3mm x 3mm QFN package.
