Bourns’ Multifuse Product Line Announces Additional New Models to the MF-NSML Family of PPTC Resettable Fuses

Riverside, California - July 5, 2017 - The Bourns Multifuse Product Line is pleased to announce the introduction of a series of new part numbers to the already successful MF-NSML product family of surface mount Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) Resettable Fuses. The two additional new models will now extend the maximum operating current of the MF-NSML series from 1.5 A to 5.0 A.

Bourns’ low ohmic materials used in this product family have post trip resistance values as low as 12 mOhms and initial resistance values as low as 1 mOhm. Such low resistance values help boost the current carrying capability of these new devices. Bourns can now achieve a 5 A Ihold model in a 1206 package (MF-NSML500-2).

These compact MF-NSML models use Bourns’ freeXpansion™ design that increases the performance of the resettable fuse with:

•Higher hold currents (Ihold)

•Improved resistance stability

•Higher voltages (Vmax)

•Smaller footprints

The primary applications for these products include PC motherboard port protection, USB memory modules, gaming consoles and battery protection for smart phones. These devices have been designed to protect against both overcurrent and overtemperature events within these applications.

The new Model MF-NSML Multifuse® PPTC products are RoHS compliant* and UL recognized for safety requirements, and are produced in Bourns’ TS16949 approved facility in Xiamen, China.
