Overview

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., has started commercially manufacturing the "DXW21BN2511N" balun for NFC*1 circuits for smart phones and other compact devices. This new product has been in production since February 2017.

Supplementary notes

The short-range communications market is in a state of disarray, with different communications standards such as "Felica" in use in "Osaifu-Keitai" (mobile phone with wallet functions) and other services in Japan and "MIFARE*2 " used on short-range IC cards overseas. The new international standard NFC (13.56 MHz) has been established to ensure compatibility with each of the standards. Because of this, in recent years the NFC standard has been progressively adopted for smart phones, tablet computers, laptop computers, wearable devices, and other compact device equipment.

A balun is used in these NFC circuits for signal conversion (balanced-unbalanced signal conversion). Murata Manufacturing has started commercially manufacturing the 0805 inch size (2.0 x 1.2 mm) balun "DXW21BN2511N," which has the input port impedance of 25Ω that is currently required in the market.
