Conductive Polymer Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

2017-05-08 | Return
Nichicon Corporation announces the market launch of its GYA series of capacitors. These high temperature, long-life, high ripple current, conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors meet automotive and industrial machinery market demands for high-performance aluminum electrolytic capacitors. These products will be displayed at TECHNO-FRONTIER 2017, held April 19 (Wednesday) to 21 (Friday) at MakuhariMesse.

Overview/Development Background

With recent advances in electronic control miniaturization in the automotive and industrial equipment markets the components used in these applications have also improved in the areas of performance and high-density mounting. In addition, engine control units (ECUs) and other components are frequently installed in the engine compartment, a high temperature environment. Thus, aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a longer life and higher ripple current are now in greater demand than ever. Nichicon manufactures non-solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors using electrolyte electrolytic solution, and solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors using conductive polymer, as its core products. Nichicon developed and launched conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors by combining electrolyte development technologies and conductive polymer film deposition technologies. Nichicon's GYA Series is expected to contribute to higher performance and longer life in the automotive sector, and many other applications.

Features

Conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors use electrolyte conductive polymer and an electrolytic solution that, in addition to the high heat resistance and low ESR performance of conductive polymer, offers oxide film restoration performance utilizing electrolytic solution. Compared to non-solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors, the GYA Series has a long life of more than 1,000 hours at 125°C and four times the ripple current. At the same time, current leakage is reduced to 1/5 that of solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors, contributing to unit energy conservation. Also, the electrolytic solution penetrates deep into etch pits, increasing capacity by approximately four times, compared to standard solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Nichicon’s development of electrolytic solutions with proprietary deposition technologies means a highly reliable product guaranteed for 4,000 hours at 125°C, the highest level in the industry.
