Zener Diodes for Over Voltage Protection that Use the Ultra-Small SOD-962 Package to Contribute to High-Density Mounting on Equipment

2022-07-25 | Return
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") has launched “CSLZ series” Zener diodes that protect semiconductor devices from switching surges, induced lightning surges[1], and electrostatic discharges (ESD)[2]. This lineup has 10 products having Zener voltage (typ.) ranging from 5.6 V to 30 V.

The new products protect semiconductor devices from ESD[2] in the order of nanoseconds, switching surges in the order of microseconds to milliseconds, and over voltage close to DC. By using the ultra-small package SOD-962[3]—whose mounting area is 0.1984 mm2 (typ.)—for the first time for Toshiba‘s Zener diodes, the products have reduced their footprint by about 85 % compared with Toshiba‘s current products[4] using the SOD-523[5] package, allowing high-density mounting on equipment. The products contribute to the effective use of circuit boards and higher reliability of equipment.
