Ledtech chooses ams OSRAM UV-C LEDs to provide reliable sanitization in new multi-function air purifier

Premstaetten, Austria (28 June, 2022) -- ams OSRAM, a global leader in optical solutions, today announced that Taiwan-based Ledtech has selected the high-performance OSLON® UV 3636 UV-C LEDs to provide a sanitization function in its new BioLED intelligent air purifier.

Deploying innovative active anti-bacterial techniques for air purification, the BioLED combines an active carbon filter to block airborne particulate pollution as small as PM2.5, pollen, mold and dust mites, alongside UV-C radiation to inactivate viruses, bacteria and fungi during the filtration process. The OSLON UV 3636 LEDs used in the BioLED can inactivate up to 99.99% of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, at a dosing rate of 3.6mJ/cm2.

The OSLON UV-C LEDs from ams OSRAM offer a small, reliable and more sustainable alternative to the traditional lamps used to produce UV-C at low cost.

Recent advances in UV-C LED technology have opened the door to new opportunities for manufacturers of equipment for purifying air and sanitizing surfaces. The OSLON UV 3636 UV-C LEDs, supplied in a surface-mount package which has a footprint of 3.6mm x 3.6mm, offer tight tolerance of peak wavelength and a typical viewing angle of 120° for precise beam control.
